UMaine Renaissance was founded in the Spring of 1999 by former Maine Senator Emily Cain and eight other members while attending an a cappella conference in Massachusetts. These nine women wanted to create a group that empowered people to create music at any age and level.
Every Winter and Spring UMaineRenaissance goes on a tour to spread
UMaine Renaissance tours the New England area. We perform in schools, restaurants, community centers, recreational centers, and professional A Cappella venues. Our goal on tour is to promote the continuation of music to all ages and all abilities. We encourage students to find interest in music, to learn it, and to continue to pursue it. We hope to inspire our collegiate audience to do the same, and to find themselves in musical ensembles on campus, and to spread the empowerment of music.
We aspire to energize the artistic spirit in adults no matter their experience, and hope to inspire them to find artistic outlets. These tours are essential to us not only because we get to share music we love, but more importantly, so it can inspire audiences everywhere to continue pursuing their passion. As a student-led organization, tour is made possible by generous hosts providing donations, housing, and meals.
